This is fast-becoming everyone’s favorite art column, except for the people who do video vlog walking their dog posts which I generally don’t like (but I did enjoy a man’s walking in the London night expose on the real reason Oasis got back together… I watched all 3 mins of it. Hint, it was money. Alotta money. Or pounds… they get paid in pounds). It’s mid-November, I had a birthday this week, happy birthday, we shows going on, but first let’s talk about The Unibrow’s show.
Against a Bright, Blue Sky… I have stylized this a few different ways in the past few weeks, which most branding experts would say is poor judgement and audience retention and perhaps shows that I may write like a third grader on quaaludes, but there is a comma… but the show is special… 50 artists, tacos, beer, tequila, churros, The Unibrow launch, and of course, the wonderful home studio of Ozzie Juarez, Tlaloc Studios, is hosting and sharing in this experience with us… this is our Los Angeles debut, which means a lot since we moved here a few years ago but also after the year that has happened in this city… we need a little end of the year gathering of friends and family… Salomon Huerta, seen above, is in this one…
You know what show looks great? Ruby C. Tut at Jessica Silverman… the hemp paper works are her best to date… staying west, Darby Milbrath at Night Gallery is moody with some delicious colors… and the new Guerrilla Girls exhibition at The Getty is one of the most fascinating chronicles of a career I have seen in quite some time…
In NYC… Karma is showing Milton Avery work and basically just showing off how great their program has been this year… Seonna Hong opeing next month at Hashimoto Contemporary will be a good way to close the year… we’ve been over my love of Friedrich Kunath, which was said to be both interesting to express love like this but warranted and go see his show at Pace… Zwirner has Sosa Joseph in Chelsea and Nicole Eisenman at 52 Walker, and Nicole is one of the artists you make a journey for… Brianna Lance is at Entrance, the always great lower east side spot… and the Joseph Geagan show at Lomex I kick myself for not going to see…
In Paris… besides just wanting to be there all the time… go see Justin Williams at Semiose. The man is a brilliant painter but mostly just a fantastic storyteller and Semiose has some of the best shows in the city… in Brussels, obviously you have Jean Jullien at Alice and Bea Scaccia at Maruani Mercier… and if you fly over to Copenhagen, you have Troels Carlsen at V1…
In Tokyo… go see our friends at NANZUKA and what looks like Stickymonger’s best show… also… the Barry McGee x OSGEMEOS show at The Watarium Art Museum in Tokyo is like getting a supergroup together… like Oasis… I do full circles here.
And one more thing about us… we will be at Design Miami from December 3—7, 2026… more on that next week… but come see me… —Evan Pricco
